Update on our church

Most of you know that FBC Runaway Bay has been given the opportunity to use the buildings once owned by Lake Bridgeport Baptist Church which is about five miles from our church buildings. We had services there for the first time last night and will be meeting there Sunday nights at 6 pm. We will still be having our usual Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services at Runaway Bay.
There is no other church in this community and so this not only meets the wishes of so many in our church to have services on Sunday evening but also serves as a great outreach opportunity to the city of Lake Bridgeport. From the sampling of people I have met around there I am sure that the vast majority in Lake Bridgeport are completely unchurched but most all have been very supportive of us starting there.
Last night we had twenty people to attend, mostly from our church but several from Cates Street Baptist and one couple from the community. I was thrilled to see how the whole group just loved on that couple and made them feel so welcome. I was thrilled even more when I learned it was only the man's second time to ever be in a church so we can see God at work already in Lake Bridgeport and that is exciting.
The word "fun" kept being used over and over to describe what we did last night and that is the way church should be. We weren't playing any games or being silly. It is just fun when the body of Christ gets together! There was no drama, no politics, no power struggles that are so often seen in churches today. There wasn't even an order of service or a real song leader and yet God blessed and it was fun.
If Acts 1:8 were spoken to FBC Runaway Bay, it would say "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Wise County, and in all Texas and the United States, and to the ends of the earth.” I am very blessed to be a part of a family of believers that is doing just that. I love you all, Todd
